The Competitive Swim Side of Coach Jarrod
Coach Jarrod has been swimming longer than most of your kids have been alive! His parents had him in swim lessons when he was 3, therefore he jumped (or more like swam) into the swim team at age 8 with ease. The rest is history. With over a decade of swimming under Coach Steve Melbourn on the summer league swim team Trophy Club Tritons, Coach Jarrod accumulated countless gold medals, and even more blue ribbons. From here, he took on high school swimming where he was nominated as the team captain as well as the MVP due to his amount of points scored during the season. It didn't stop there, as Jarrod also put his name up on the record board twice, and even made an appearance at state his senior year after his relay was declared regional champs. More recently, he's been a national qualifier in 2 half Ironman triathlons which are 70.3 miles, 1.2 miles of which included open water swimming.
The Professional Side of Coach Jarrod
As for being qualified to teach swim lessons, Champions Swimming understands that the customer wants to see results through a validated program and a verified instructor. Jarrod has been a certified lifeguard for 5 years, making him CPR/BLS/Oxygen/Waterpark/Deep Water Lifeguard certified through American Red Cross. Further, he has his Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification also through American Red Cross, and taught accredited swim lessons at the Trophy Club Pool, Roanoke Pool, and the Southlake Marq for 3 years. During the summer of 2021 Coach Jarrod was an assistant coach of the Trophy Club Triton summer league swim team. This was quite the step-up from swim lessons, as this was full-on swim practices where he would be in charge of up to 20 kids at once on a team of almost 200 swimmers. The team ended up as state champions overall, with several first place finishes that Jarrod couldn't be more proud of. This being said, he has coached and taught lessons for all ages from 6 months to 60+, so nobody is too young or too old for the elite program. In the summer of 2022 and 2023, CCC had over 400 aggregated customers that were serviced throughout summer with their fully qualified instructors.
